Section 1 – Insurance

All cars listed on GoFøroyar must have valid car insurance.

The car owner is responsible for ensuring that their insurance policy allows the vehicle to be rented out.

If your car is insured with a Faroese insurance company (for example Trygd or Betri), you should contact your insurance provider to confirm the terms for renting out your vehicle.

GoFøroyar is a platform that connects car owners and renters. Insurance agreements remain between the car owner and their insurance provider.

Section 2 – Who is covered by the insurance?

According to standard insurance terms, the insurance normally covers:
– the car owner (policyholder)
– any person driving the car with the owner’s permission
– passengers in the vehicle

Renters must always hold a valid driver’s license.

Section 3 – If damage happens during a rental

If a car is damaged during a rental period, the following process normally applies:
1. The car owner reports the damage to their insurance company.
2. The insurance company handles the claim according to the owner’s insurance policy.
3. The renter may be responsible for covering the deductible depending on the rental agreement.

Each damage incident may have its own deductible depending on the insurance policy.

Section 4 – Deductible

Most car insurance policies include a deductible.

This means that when damage occurs, a part of the cost must be paid before the insurance covers the remaining amount.

The deductible amount is determined by the insurance agreement between the car owner and their insurance provider.

Section 5 – Responsibilities of the renter

When renting a car through GoFøroyar, the renter must:
– hold a valid driver’s license
– drive responsibly and follow traffic laws
– return the car in the same condition as received
– inform the owner immediately if damage occurs

Section 6 – Responsibilities of the car owner

Car owners who list their vehicles on GoFøroyar must:
– ensure the vehicle has valid insurance
– confirm with their insurance provider that the car may be rented out
– clearly communicate rental conditions to renters

Section 7 – GoFøroyar’s role

GoFøroyar is a digital platform that connects car owners and renters.

Insurance agreements and claims are handled between the car owner and their insurance provider.

GoFøroyar does not act as an insurance provider.

Security deposit

A refundable security deposit may be required when renting a car through GoFøroyar.

The deposit helps cover potential costs such as:

• insurance deductibles
• minor damages
• traffic or parking fines

The deposit is returned after the rental if no issues are reported.
